Frequently Asked Questions

Got questions about our tree surgery services? Find answers below.

What areas do you cover?
Based in Kilbarchan, we provide tree surgery services across Renfrewshire, Inverclyde, and Greater Glasgow including Paisley, Greenock, Port Glasgow, Johnstone, Barrhead, and surrounding areas.
Is your company insured?
Yes. TM Trees is fully insured through Trust Insurance Services Ltd with £10M public liability insurance and £5M employer's liability insurance. We provide copies of our current insurance documents as standard with every quote.
Do you offer free quotes?
Yes, we offer free, no-obligation site visits and quotes. We'll assess your trees, discuss your requirements, and provide a clear written quote with no hidden costs.
Do I need permission for tree work?
It depends. Some trees are protected by Tree Preservation Orders (TPOs) or may be located within a Conservation Area. Work on protected trees without permission can result in significant fines. We can check with your local council and handle the application process on your behalf.
Can you provide references?
Yes, we're happy to provide references from previous clients upon request. You can also view our verified Google reviews on our Reviews page to see feedback from satisfied customers.
Do you take away all the waste?
Yes, all green waste is removed and recycled unless you request to keep woodchips for mulch or logs for firewood. We leave your property clean and tidy after every job.
How much does tree surgery cost?
Costs vary depending on tree size, species, location, complexity, and access requirements. Get in touch for a free, no-obligation quote—we offer competitive and transparent pricing with no hidden fees.
When is the best time to prune trees?
The ideal pruning time depends on the species. Most deciduous trees are best pruned during their dormant season (late autumn to early spring), while some species like cherry and plum should be pruned in summer to reduce disease risk. We can advise on the optimal timing for your specific trees.
What if a neighbour's tree affects my property?
You have the legal right to cut back branches or roots that overhang your boundary up to the property line, but you must return the cuttings to your neighbour. We always recommend speaking to your neighbour first before carrying out any work.
How do I contact you in an emergency?
For emergency tree work such as storm damage or dangerous branches, call us directly on 07522 083 472. We provide rapid response for urgent situations and can prioritise works where required for safety reasons.
